Hawks Place Third on Final Day of the VSU Fall Invitational

PETERSBURG, VA - The Chowan University men's golf team completed the second and final round of play at the Virginia State University Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks finished in 3rd place out of the 6 teams that competed in the tournament.

The A Team for Randolph-Macon College took 1st place in round two with a team score of 296 and also finished in first place in the tournament with a two-day team total of 603. Livingstone College followed with 310 as the team total for the second round and 630 as the two-day team total, earning them a 2nd place finish in the tournament.  Finishing behind Chowan in 4th place was the B Team for Randolph-Macon College who turned in a team score of 325 on Tuesday giving them a two-day team total of 650. Virginia Union University took 5th place on Tuesday afternoon, and finished with a two-day team total of 669 after having scored 331 on Tuesday afternoon. The host team, Virginia State, finished in 6th place with a score of 377 in the second round and two-day team total of 761.

After turning in a team score of 321 on Monday, the Hawks finished on Tuesday with an improved team score of 313 for a two-day total of 634. Steven Rhinard led the Hawks with a two-day total score of 155 after having shot a 75 in round two. Rich Edwards turned in a score of 79 on the second day of play, giving him a two-day total score of 158.Billy Britton shot an 81 on Tuesday and had a final score of 160. while Ryan Baker finished with a 78 on Tuesday which was added to Christian Fleetwood's first round score of 83 for a two-day total of 161.

Chowan returns to action on November 1st when they compete in the ECSU Viking Fall Tee-Off in Suffolk, Virginia.
