MT. GILEAD, NC - The Chowan University men's golf team completed the second and final round of play at the Pfeiffer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks finished in 5th place out of the 5 teams that competed in the tournament.
Lander University took 1st in round two with a team score of 295 on Tuesday and finished in 1st place in the tournament with a two-day team total of 578. James Bartlett of Pfeiffer finished in 1st place overall with a total two-day score of 141. The host, Pfeiffer University, followed with 304 as the team total for the second round and 596 as the two-day team total, earning them a 2nd place finish in the tournament. Finishing in 3rd place was Belmont Abbey College who turned in a team score of 313 on Tuesday giving them a two-day team total of 615. Pfeiffer University's B team took 4th place with a score of 306 on Tuesday afternoon, giving them a two-day team total of 620.
After turning in a team score of 323 on Monday, the Hawks finished on Tuesday with a team score of 326 for a two-day total of 649. Billy Britton led the Hawks with a two-day total score of 154 after having shot an 80 in round two. Steven Rhinard turned in a score of 78 on the second day of play, a one shot improvement over his first round score (79), finishing in 16th place. Rich Edwards had a three shot improvement from his day one score (85), turning in an 82 in round two for a total score of 167. Christian Fleetwood shot an 88 on Tuesday afternoon while Ryan Baker carded an 86 which was a three shot improvement from his round one score (89).
Chowan returns to action on October 25th when they compete in the Virginia State University Fall Invitational in Petersburg, Virginia.
