Hawks Place 5th After First Round at Cutter Creek Invitational

SNOW HILL, NC - The Chowan University men's golf team began their 2015 season on Monday afternoon at the Cutter Creek Invitational. The Hawks completed the first day of play with a team score of 330 in the first round and finished in 5th place out of the 6 teams competing in the tournament.

Barton stands in first place after the opening round with a team score of 298.  Justin Plane shot a 73 on the afternoon pacing the Bulldogs and finishing in first place overall for the day, followed by Derek Hamm and Edward Thomas, III who both carded a 74.

Billy Britton and Rich Edwards led the way for the Hawks, both with a 78 in the first round.  Britton and Edwards are tied for 12th place in the 32 player field.  Steven Rhinard carded an 82 on the afternoon followed by Christian Fleetwood who shot a 92 in the opening round.  Rhinard stands in 22nd place overall and Fleetwood stands in 29th place.Ryan Baker also competed in the tournament and finished the first day in 32nd place with a score of 99. 

The second round of play continues on Tuesday at Cutter Creek Golf Course in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
