Hawks Compete in First Day of Play at UNC Pembroke/Campbell Sunoco Classic

WALLACE, NC- The Chowan University men's golf team competed in the opening day of play at the UNC Pembroke/Campbell Sunoco Classic.  The Hawks played two rounds in the opening day of play and will conclude play on Tuesday with a third and final round. 

Chowan finished in 15th place out of the 15-team field with a two-round score of 664.  The Hawks combined for a score of 333 in the first round and posted a score of 331 in the second round.  Queens University of Charlotte stands in first place with a score of 590.  They hold a one-stroke lead over Mount Olive. 

Jordan Francis and Billy Britton closed out the first day of play tied for 61st place.  Francis shot an 85 in the opening round and battled back to card a 76 in the second round of play.  Britton turned in a first round score of 80 and shot an 81 in the final round of the afternoon.  Rich Edwards enters play on Tuesday looking to work out of a tie for 74th place in the field.  He shot an 84 in the first round and an 85 in the second round. 

Sean Wilson rounded out the scoring for the Hawks on Monday.  He began the day with an 84 and followed with a second round score of 89.  Nick Hahula also competed for the Chowan Blue and White.  He shot a 97 in the first round and carded a 93 in the second. 

Chowan returns to action on Tuesday when the Hawks complete in the third and final round of the UNC Pembroke/Campbell Sunoco Classic.
