BRONCOS LEAD SOUTHERN DIVISION TOURNEY AFTER THE FIRST ROUND
CLAYTON, N.C. - The Fayetteville State Broncos are again
establishing themselves as one of the CIAA's elite golf
programs.
Fayetteville State, which won two tournaments during Fall semester
play, opened the first day of the CIAA Southern Division Golf
Championship with a round of 299 to lead second-place Winston-Salem
State by 11 shots entering Tuesday's final round.
Led by Brandon Jobe's (Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.) 1-over-par 72, the
Broncos completed play well in front of the pack, which includes
third-place Virginia State (312).
Winston-Salem State's Zack Sheets was just one stroke behind Jobe,
while Virginia State's Stephen Genchi was tied for third with a
74.
Fayetteville State's Jake Barge (Jr., Fayetteville, N.C.) was in a
tie for third after a 74 while teammate Lincoln Jackson (Sr.,
Southern Pines, N.C.) was fifth with a 75. Jedidiah Frazier (So.,
Havelock, N.C.) was tied for 10th after a 78.
The tournament is being played at the 6,508-yard Pine Hollow Golf
Course.
