DANIELS, WV - Virginia State shot a final round 318 to finish 13th at the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Golf Regional. While Brian Wood and Rashad Hunt shot their best rounds of the tournament, the team had its worst round of the event and fell to 13th place overall with a total of 949 in the 54-hole event. VSU needed to finish in the top five to advance to the National Finals.
Host Concord University finished first, shooting 893, eleven strokes better than second place Indiana (PA).
In individual competition, Livingstone golfer Kenny Bethea fired a final-round 86 Wednesday and finished in 7th place.
Bethea entered the final round eight shots behind the second-place golfer, the position he needed to finish to advance to the NCAA Nationals, but struggled from the beginning.
Bethea and the VSU team now head to Port St. Lucie, Florida for the 2010 PGA Minority Golf Championship hosted by the PGA Golf Club May 7-9, 2010.
