Livingstone Golfer Kenny Bethea Shoots Opening Round 80 at NCAA Regionals

DANIELS, WV – Livingstone golfer Kenny Bethea fired an
8-over par, 80, in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA East/Atlantic
Regional hosted at The Resort at Glade Springs Monday.
Bethea, who is competing at the regional as an individual, sits
sixth out of the eight individuals only five shots behind the
individual leader Drew Deimel of Gannon University.
Bethea started the round off with a bogey on the 7,064 yard
course. Bethea also bogeyed the third and sixth holes before
hitting a double bogey on the ninth, coming out in 41, five shots
over par.
On the back nine, Bethea wasn’t able to make up any shots,
but was able to limit his mistakes. Bethea bogeyed the 12th,
15th and 17th holes bringing him into the clubhouse with a
back-nine, 39, and an 80 for the round.
In order for Bethea to advance past the regional, he must finish in
the top two of the individuals competing. Bethea is only
three shots behind the second-place individual, Joseph Leardo of
Felician College and Jonathan Radick of Holy Family College who
both sit at 5-over par.
Bethea will take the course for the second round Tuesday at 8:40
a.m. Bethea will start the second round on the 10th tee and
finish on the 9th.
