Danbury, CT - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Football Players of the Week award winners for the week ending October 8, 2017 with Lincoln University kicker Cody Waddell (Elkton, MD/Northeast) being selected as the ECAC Division II Special Teams Player of the Week.

Waddell becomes just the second Lincoln football player to earn an ECAC Division II Player of the Week honor, joining Stephen Scott who is now a student coach with the Lions.  Scott was the ECAC's Offensive Player of the Week on September 10, 2015.

In the Lions 45-23 loss to Virginia Union, Waddell kicked two extra points and a field goal.  He also threw one pass as part of a fake punt attempt which was completed for 43 yards taking the Lions from a fourth-down-and-five situation to a first and goal at the four-yard line, setting up the Lions first touchdown two plays later. The sophomore kicking specialist averaged 47 yards per kick on four kickoffs and 31.7 yards per punt on three punts, including one inside the 20-yard line.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 14, 2017 when they travel to Elizabeth city State University.  Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.

Established in 1938, the ECAC is the nation's largest Conference, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri. The ECAC hosts numerous championships in men's and women's sports across Divisions I, II and III, offering opportunities for thousands of student-athletes.
