Fayetteville, NC -- The Fayetteville State University Department of Athletics will host the annual Bronco Bowl on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Luther “Nick” Jeralds Stadium. The Bronco Bowl is the intra-squad spring football scrimmage between the offense and defense. Admission is free; gates open at 11:30 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
“We have already had some good spring practices and we want to build on that momentum,” said head football coach Richard Hayes, Jr. “Our goal is to continue getting better at everything we do, one day at a time.”
The Bronco Bowl will feature a scrimmage between the offense and defense, including 7-on-7 action. Offense will wear white, while the defense will be in the royal blue uniforms. The overall contest will be structured to run approximately 70-80 plays with a running clock. Special teams' action will not be live. The Bronco Bowl trophy will be presented to the winner.
The Marching Bronco Xpress (MBX) will conduct a music clinic and showcase in preparation for the upcoming season and summer auditions. Student-athletes with grade point averages of 3.0 or higher from the fall 2016 semester will also be acknowledged during the event.
There will be opportunities for photos and autographs with the current student-athletes and coaching staff following the game. The 2017 Fayetteville State Broncos football season will kick-off on Saturday, September 2nd in Murfreesboro, NC against Chowan University. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
