Note: Alderson Broaddus defeated Pace University, 31-28, last week while Chowan dropped a 47-7 decision to Charlotte.

Elizabeth City State University “Vikings” (0-1) vs. Tusculum College “Pioneers” (1-0)
1:30 pm – Pioneer Field in Greeneville, Tenn.
Note: ECSU lost at Newberry, 35-32 and Tusculum shut out the College of Faith, 63-0, in their home opener last week.
TC is a member of the South Atlantic Conference

Saint Augustine’s University “Falcons” (0-1) vs. Wingate University “Bulldogs” (0-0)
1:30 pm – Irwin Belk Stadium in Wingate, N.C.
Note: This is the season opener for Wingate.  St. Aug looks to recover from a double overtime, 23-20, loss to N.C. Central in Durham last week.
WU is a member of the South Atlantic Conference

Bowie State University “Bulldogs” (1-0) vs. Johnson C. Smith University “Golden Bulls” (1-0)
2:00 pm – Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C.
Note: BSU got a road win over St. Anselm, 42-28 and JCSU defeated Livingstone, 34-17, last weekend in the Commemorative Classic at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte.,.
This will be the first home game of the JCSU football season and has been marked as the "Eddie C. McGirt Classic" in honor and recognition of legendary coach Eddie 'Cut' McGirt.
As was the case with JCSU and Livingstone last week, this matchup will NOT count in the CIAA standings.

New York Urban League Classic
Virginia State University “Trojans” (1-0) vs. Benedict College “Tigers” (1-0)
3:00 pm – MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Note: This is the 41st edition of the Urban League Classic.  Both teams won their season openers on the road.  VSU edged Fayetteville State, 29-28 and BC knocked off Central State, 42-9.
Benedict is a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Virginia University of Lynchburg “Dragons” (0-1) vs. Winston-Salem State University “Rams” (0-1)
6:00 pm – Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC
Note: VUL lost its home opener, 38-13, to Lane College.  WSSU fell at UNC-Pembroke, 25-21, but still remains nationally ranked.
VUL is coached by Willard Bailey who has a long history in the CIAA with stops at Saint Paul’s and Virginia Union.

Catawba College “Indians” (1-0) vs. Livingstone College “Blue Bears” (0-1)
6:00 pm – Alumni Memorial Stadium in Salisbury, N.C.
Note: This will be the 13th meeting between the Blue Bears and the Indians, in this cross-town rivalry for the Mayor’s Cup. The Indians are currently undefeated in the series 12 - 0. Catawba will be making their first appearance at Alumni Memorial Stadium since 2010.
Last week Catawba edged West Liberty, 10-9 and Livingstone lost to Johnson C. Smith, 34-17.
Both schools have new head coaches; Curtis Walker at Catawba and Daryl Williams at Livingstone.

The Lincoln University “Lions” (1-0) vs. Sacred Heart University “Pioneers” (2-0)
6:00 pm – Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn.
Note: This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.  Last week Lincoln defeated Cheyney for “Battle of the Firsts” bragging rights, 33-28. SHU edged Lafayette, 26-24, for its second win of the young season.

UNC-Pembroke “Braves” (1-0) vs. Fayetteville State University “Broncos” (0-1)

6:00 pm – Nick Jeralds Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C.
Note:  Called the “Two Rivers Classic” in recognition of the nearby Cape Fear and Lumber Rivers, this will be the fourth meeting between these two UNC-System schools.  UNCP leads the series 3-0..  FSU will be UNCP’s second of three scheduled CIAA opponents.  The Braves knocked off Winston-Salem State, 25-21, last Thursday and will meet Shaw next week in Wilmington.
FSU looks to rebound from a 29-28, home opening loss to Virginia State last Saturday.

Shaw University “Bears” (1-0) vs. Virginia Union University “Panthers” (0-1)

7:00 pm – Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
Note: This interdivisional matchup will NOT count in the CIAA standings.  Shaw knocked off Charleston (W.Va.), 44-14, in its home opener last week.  VUU looks to rebound from a 66-7 thumping at Bethune-Cookman.
