CIAA Football Players and Coach of Week 5

for the week ending October 6, 2013

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN
Daven Gray - Winston-Salem State  Position:  OL
Height:  6-3  Weight:  310  Class:  Sr  Hometown:  Kernersville, NC
Comments:  Gray helped Winston-Salem State’s offense account for a whopping 690 yards of total offense, including 428 passing and 262 rushing yards in the Rams 56-21 win over
Bowie State.

RECEIVER
Juwan Moye - Fayetteville State  Position:  WR
Height:  5-7  Weight:  160  Class:  Fr.  Hometown:  Raleigh, NC
Comments:  Moye pulled in 7 receptions for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. His longest TD receptions was for 46 yards. His second TD receptions was the game winner in triple overtime. Moye finished the game with a total of 192 all purpose yards.

QUARTERBACK
Rudy Johnson - Winston-Salem State
Height:  6-2  Weight:  185  Class:  Jr  Hometown:  San Diego, CA
Comments:  Rudy Johnson continues to make his mark on CIAA competition, making his fourth consecutive start, Johnson finished 20 of 36 for 390 yards and four touchdown passes, while also leading the Rams in rushing, with Johnson picking up 73 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns. This was his second straight game with four touchdown passes, as the Rams defeated Bowie State 56-21. Winston-Salem State rolled a up whopping 690 yards of total offense, including 428 passing and 262 rushing yards.  

OFFENSIVE BACK
LeAnder Barney - Johnson C. Smith Position:  RB
Height:  5-9  Weight:  205  Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Erie, PA
Comments:  Barney had a MVP performance with 166 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in the 49-10 blowout win over Lincoln. He carried the ball 15 times for 94 yards and two scores. Barney also had five catches for 72 yards.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
Jerry Chandler - Winston-Salem State  Position:  TE/DL
Height:  6-5  Weight:  285  Class:  Sr  Hometown:  High Point, NC
Comments:  Jerry Chandler, who plays on both sides of the football for Winston-Salem State, had a great afternoon, as he recorded four tackles, a tackle for a loss, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the Rams 56-21 win over Bowie State. The Rams defense held Bowie State to 257 yards of offense.

LINEBACKER
Kenneth White - Livingstone   Position:  LB
Height:  6-0  Weight:  220  Class:  Jr  Hometown:  Southport, NC
Comments:  White, an All-CIAA Preseason selection, recovered a fumble and returned it for a 35 yard touchdown for the Blue Bears. White finished with 14 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery in their loss to Virginia Union.

DEFENSIVE BACK
Brion Robinson - Lincoln  Position:  S
Height:  5-9  Weight:  205  Class:  SO  Hometown:  Laurel, MD
Comments:  Brion Robinson led the Lions defense with 17 total tackles against the Golden Bulls. Robinson had a career-high 11 solo tackles from his safety position and assisted on six other tackles while breaking up two passes on the road.

ROOKIE
Ka'Von Bellamy - Virginia State   Position: Linebacker
Height: 5-10, Weight: 205, Class: Freshman, Hometown: Hampton, Va.
The freshman linebacker was converted from running back to linebacker prior to the start of the season. against Shaw, he registered a team-best five solo tackles and registered one tackle for loss. Bellamy helped stop the Shaw offense and limited them to 20 fewer points then their average coming into the contest and 197.5 fewer yards than their season's average in a 14-10 Virginia State win.

SPECIALTY
Troy Krepich - Virginia Union  Position:  P/K
Height:  6-1  Weight:  200  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Leesburg, VA
Comments:  Krepich handled both punting and kicking duties when VUU defeated Livingstone 32-25, and accounted for six of VUU's points. Krepich went 3-for-3 on PATs and then hit a 34-yard field goal. When he was punting, Krepich averaged 44.5 yards per punt. He launched a 64-yard punt, the longest punt by a VUU player since Paul Jones punted a ball for 72 yards in 2011.
 
COACH
Lawrence Kershaw - Fayetteville State
Comments:  Fayetteville State is on a three game win streak under first year Head Coach Kershaw. The 3-2 Broncos defeated Chowan 35-29 in triple overtime and currently hold a 2-0 conference record.
