Comments: George anchored the middle of
a VUU offensive line that racked up 479 total offensive yards,
including 218 rushing yards and 261 passing yards in VUU’s
43-29 win over Chowan.

Comments: Pettway was one of a battery of
Shaw receivers that helped the Bears accumulate 356 yards through
the air. Pettway not only pulled in five receptions for 113 yards,
but hauled in two touchdowns as well, helping pace the Bears to
their first win with a 54-0 win over visiting
Livingstone.
QUARTERBACK
Cheston Hickman, Virginia Union University
Height: 6-0 Weight: 195 Class: SR Hometown: Columbia,
SC
Comments: Hickman had another great day
at quarterback, connecting on 15 of 23 passes for 261 yards and
three touchdowns. Included in his totals are touchdown passes of 55
and 33 yards in VUU’s victory.

Nicholas Cooper, Winston-Salem State University
Position: Running Back
Height: 6-0 Weight: 245 Class: R-Sr Hometown: Clinton,
NC
Comments: Nic Cooper continued his
rushing assault on the CIAA, finishing the afternoon with 203 yards
and two touchdowns on 23 carries in WSSU’s 28-10 homecoming
win over Johnson C. Smith. It was his second consecutive 200+ yard
rushing game.
DEFENSIVE
LINEMAN
Dorian Edwards, Livingstone College
Position: DE
Height: 5'10 Weight: 280 Class: Jr. Hometown: Kinston,
NC
Comments: Dorian Edwards had a career
day against the Shaw Bears. Edwards recorded 15 total tackles with
11 solo and four assists; including one sack and two tackles
for loss.
LINEBACKER
Delano Johnson , Bowie State University
Position: LB
Height: 6-4 Weight: 262 Class: Sr. Hometown: Baltimore,
MD
Comments: Johnson led the Bowie State
Bulldogs with a team-high 14 total tackles, tying his career-high-
10 of which were solo. Delano also recorded one tackle for a
loss, forced one fumble and intercepted one pass in Bowie State's
28-21 overtime loss at Virginia State.
DEFENSIVE BACK
Antonio Harris, Virginia Union University
Position: DB Height: 5-11 Weight: 182 Class: SR Hometown: Newport
News, VA
Comments: Harris came close to tying
the VUU school record by recording three interceptions in Virginia
Union's 43-29 win over Chowan. Harris' three interceptions were one
short of the school record, set in 1999 by Tommie Dawson. Harris
also had a team-high seven
tackles.
ROOKIE
William Trimble, Johnson C. Smith University
Position: WR Height: 5'9 Weight: 165 Class: FR Hometown: Fayetteville,
GA
Comments: Trimble had a huge, momentum
swaying kick return for a touchdown in the loss to No. 16
Winston-Salem State. Following an interception returned for a
score, Trimble took the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a JCSU
touchdown. He led the team in all-purpose yardage and scored the
Golden Bulls' only TD. He concluded the day with three returns for
117 yards against WSSU. Trimble has now returned a 88 yard kickoff
and a 70 yard punt for touchdowns halfway through his freshman
season.
SPECIALTY
Austin Turner, Fayetteville State University
Position: PK/P
Height: 6-2 Weight: 232 Class: Sr. Hometown: San
Diego, CA
Comments: Turner booted a 34-yard
game-winning field goal to lift Fayetteville State to a 31-28 win
over St. Augustine's in overtime. Turner made each of his four PAT
attempts and averaged 42.8 yards per punt, including a season-long
58-yarder.
COACH
Andrew Faison, Virginia State University
Comments: Faison guided his Trojans to
another come from behind win against the Bulldogs of Bowie State
University, 28-21 in overtime. The Trojans won their first overtime
game since 2007 and has improved their CIAA conference record to
2-1.
