ECSU's McNeill named HSRN Division II Player of the Week
ASU’s Andrews and ECSU’s McNeill Win Week-7 Fan Poll National Player of the Week Honors
October 19, 2011
Hartly, DE – It was not close for Alabama State fans, as they ran away with the voting again on the FCS side and Elizabeth City State fans took over the race on the Division II side. ASU’s WR Nick Andrews and ECSU’s Daronte McNeill are the winners of week-seven Fan Poll voting for the HSRN National Player of the Week. Each week during the season, HSRN’s staff will select the top performances from all HBCU action and give the fans across the country a chance to vote for the Player of the Week.
This was the sixth time in seven weeks that Alabama State Hornets’ fans have made sure their star athlete came out on top. In Div. I FCS voting Andrews won with 2,004 votes, QB Mike German (Tennessee St.) finished with 92 votes, RB Travis Davidson (Morgan St.) finished with 22 votes, and WR Jared Green (Southern) 5. Div. II voting has McNeill with 1,365 votes, followed by QB Quinshon Odom (Shaw) 795, QB Teddy Bacote (St. Augustine’s) 217, RB DeMario Pippen (Tuskegee) 57.
HSRN developed the fan poll to get all HBCU alumni, students and fans involved with the national process and to also give everyone a chance to consistently keep up with the individual performances around the country. This web site and our broadcasts are designed to keep you abreast of all action around HBCU athletic competition.
