VUU's Hurley Hemphill will play in Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl wearing jersey #40 on the east team

"Tre" Hemphill, 6-0 235, is a senior linebacker. He was a first team all conference performer for the Panthers in the CIAA this season. Hemphill, from Kannapolis, NC, was the anchor on the top scoring defensive unit in the CIAA and finished the ranked season third in the conference in total tackles.

The bowl is the nation's only post-season football game that showcases the top Division-IAA and Division-II HBCU football talent. Teams will represent the East and West, coached by Coach Joseph Taylor of Florida A&M University and Reggie Barlow of Alabama State University.

Classics Sports Radio Network will broadcast the Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl on Saturday, December 19 live from the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery AL. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. ET. The broadcast of the game is part of a two-year broadcast agreement between DWCommunications, LLC, parent company of Classics Sports Radio Network and Synergy Sports Associates, rights holder of the game.
