CIAA Football Players of the Week- Week Ten

Offensive Lineman of the Week: Johnathon Glenn, Saint Augustine's College
Position:  LT Height:  6-2 Weight:  270  Class:  Sr.  Hometown:  Raleigh, NC 
Comments:  Glenn ended the final game of his collegiate career by anchoring an offensive line which allowed the Falcons to gain 315 rushing yards and 426 total offensive yards against Chowan. The offensive line led by Glenn, opened holes for Walter Sanders, who gained a school-record 262 yards. 

Receiver of the Week: Darryl Barnett, Fayetteville State University
Position:  WR Height:  6-4  Weight:  210  Class:  SR  Hometown:  Raeford, NC 
Comments:  Darryl Barnett concluded a stellar collegiate career during FSU's "Senior Day" rip over Livingstone. Barnett pulled down 6 receptions for 105 yards. Half of his receptions found him in the endzone for a total of three touchdowns. Barnett streaked down the sideline near the end of the first quarter for a his longest TD catch of 50 yards. On the Broncos first drive of the 2nd quarter, Barnett was found 14 yards down the field pulling in his second of three touchdown receptions in the first half. 

Offensive Back of the Week: Walter Sanders, Saint Augustine's College
Position:  Tailback Height: 5-11 Weight:  210  Class:  So Hometown:  Baltimore, MD 
Comments:  Sanders finished the regular season with a whopping 262 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries. The rushing total is definitely a school-record and possibly a CIAA record. He scored touchdowns on runs of 44, 33 and 17 yards against Chowan. His output is mostly responsible for the Falcons gaining 315 rushing yards and 426 yards of total offense. 

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Phillip Stevenson, Saint Augustine's College
Position:  DT Height:  6-3 Weight:  275 Class:  Jr.  Hometown:  Statesville, NC 
Comments:  Stevenson, the CIAA sacks leader entering the final week, added two more sacks while leading the Falcons with 10 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. He sacked C.J. Westler, which helped stop a potential Chowan scoring drive late in the game to preserve a 33-31 victory. Stevenson also forced a fumble in the game. 

Linebacker of the Week:    Billy Graham, Johnson C. Smith University
Position:  LB Height:  6-1  Weight:  200  Class:  Sr.  Hometown:  Burlington, N.C. 
Comments:  Billy was all over the field recording 20 total tackles (4 solo, 16 assisted), 2.5 for a loss of 8 yards and one quarterback hurry. Billy's 20 tackles set a new Irwin Belk Complex record previously held by Omar Bizzell (18). 

Defensive Back of the Week: Justin Hamilton, Elizabeth City State University
Position:  CB  Height:  5-10  Weight:  180  Class:  Jr  Hometown:  Washington, DC 
Comments:  Justin Hamilton had three tackles, forced two fumbles, returned two interceptions for 53 yards and returned a blocked extra point attempt for two points in the Vikings' 36-13 win over Virginia Union Saturday. 

Rookie of the Week: Babside Onadipe, Virginia State University
Position:  RB Height: 5-10 Weight: 185 Class:  FR Hometown:  Colonial Heights, VA 
Comments:  Onadipe filled in again for the injured Taron Hampton, and rushed for 142 yards on 35 carries. It was the second straight game in which the talented freshman rushed for more than 100 yards. Onadipe also scored a touchdown in the game. 

Specialty Player of the Week: Clifton "Dominique" Budd, Bowie State University
Position:  WR  Height:  5-9  Weight:  172  Class:  Fr.  Hometown:  Silver Spring, MD 
Comments:  Budd recorded a 73-yard punt return touchdown and caught six passes for a team-high 67 yards in Bowie State's season finale victory over Virginia State.

Coach of the Week: Darrell Asberry, Shaw University 
Comments:  Coach Asberry led his team to repeat as CIAA Western Division Champs with the win over JCSU. This is no small feat as the Bears made school history with this first back to back division title. They also made history by being the first Shaw team to be able to defend their CIAA championship title back to back. With only one conference loss this season, Coach Asberry's team currently holds three number one positions in the nation.
