Offensive Lineman of the Week: Travis Amos, Virginia State University

Comments:
 Amos anchored an offensive line which opened holes for the Virginia State offense to pile up 317 offensive yards in VSU's 14-7 win over Virginia Union University in Richmond on Saturday. 

 

Receiver of the Week: Brian Berry, Virginia State University
Position:
 WR  Height:  5-9  Weight:  180  Class:  SO  Hometown:  Conyers, GA 

Comments:
 Berry had five catches for 40 yards and 91 yards in all-purpose yardage in VSU's 14-7 win over Virginia Union University on Saturday.  His biggest moment came on a trick play, where Berry took a direct snap and ran 32 yards for the game-winning touchdown. 

 

Offensive Back of the Week: Travis Robinson, Shaw University

 QB  Height:  6'1  Weight:  180  Class:  JR  Hometown:  Rockingham, NC 

Comments:
 Travis played like a champion throwing 368 of Shaw's total 455 yards for 5 touchdown passes. The longest was 82 yards. 

 

 

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Jarvis Stokes, Saint Paul's College

 DL  Height:  6-3  Weight:  205  Class:  SO  Hometown:  Ft. Lauderdale, FL 

Comments:
 Stokes totaled seven tackles (three solo, four assists) including three tackles for a total of 17 yards and 1 1/2 half sacks for 14 yards loss. 

 

Linebacker of the Week:  Michael Morgan, Johnson C. Smith University
Position:
 LB  Height:  5-11  Weight:  190  Class:  So.  Hometown:  Sumter, SC 

Comments:
 Morgan had a game and career high 11 total tackles (6 solo, 5 assisted), 4 tackles for a loss of 33 yards and three sacks on the day for a loss of 29 yards against the offensively red hot Broncos of Fayetteville State University. 

 

Defensive Back of the Week: Jeff Lynn, Jr., Elizabeth City State University
Position:
 DB Height:  5-8  Weight:  170  Class:  So  Hometown:  Wilson, NC 

Comments:
 Lynn had 2 interceptions returned for 39 yards and three pass breakups in the Vikings' win over Lincoln Saturday. He also had three solo tackles including one for a loss of 7 yards. 

 

Rookie of the Week: Taron Hampton, Virginia State University
Position:
 RB  Height:  5-9  Weight:  185  Class:  FR  Hometown:  Powhatan, VA 

Comments:  Hampton had a career day in VSU's 14-7 win over Virginia Union on Saturday in Richmond, Va. Hampton carried the ball 33 times for 196 yards. He became the first Trojan running back to rush for more than 1,000-yards in a season since Robert "Bo" Morgan in 1995 and became the first running back to rush for more than 100 yards against VUU this season.  


Specialty Player of the Week: Richard Medlin, Fayetteville State University
Position:
 RB  Height:  6-1  Weight:  220  Class:  SO  Hometown:  Garner, NC 

Comments:  Richard Medlin returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown. For the day, Medlin totaled 244 all-purpose yards and had two touchdowns. He had a season best against the Golden Bulls with his first 100-yard rushing game. Medlin ran for 134 net yards with one touchdown and only had 12 yards in the loss category. He also pulled in 2 catches for 27 yards.  

 

 

Coach of the Week: Andrew Faison, Virginia State University

Comments:  Coach Faison guided the Trojans to a 14-7 win over Virginia Union University on Saturday in Richmond, Va., to spoil VUU's Homecoming. The Trojans racked up 317 total offensive yards against one of the CIAA's toughest defenses.
