SHAW'S ELLIS TAGGED AS 2008 100% WRONG CLUB DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
JANUARY 26, 2008
It is quite normal for words like "honored," "recognized," and "awarded" to be closed associate in reference to Shaw Football's #92 Louis Ellis (Defensive Lineman / Junior / Recreation / Jackson, MS). In this occasion, the football collegiate celebrity is being recognized as the 2008 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year by the 100 % Wrong Club.
On February 22 - 23, 2008, Ellis will be "honored," "recognized,"
and "awarded" with the Atlanta based organization's prestigious
CIAA Defensive Player of the Year Award. As a portion of a rich
tradition and history, the 100% Wrong Club presents a number of
distinguished decorations at their Annual Awards Banquet
Celebration; of which is the Marion E. Jackson Coaches &
Players award. Mr. Marion E. Jackson was the Sports Director for
the Atlanta Daily World and a former member of the club. The award
is presented to the Top Players and Coaches selected by each
conference in honor of his memory.
The 100% Wrong Club is an Atlanta based organization that began its efforts to acknowledge the accomplishments of athletes from Historical Black Colleges and Universities in 1934. Seventy-four years later, the Club continues to maintain this dedicated effort in support of athletes as well as recognition of National Sports achievers and distinguished National and local community service leaders.
Recently, Ellis was honored by The Pigskin Club of Washington, DC with the James Guy "Pete" Tyson Award at their 70th Annual Awards Dinner back on Friday, January 18th. In addition, he was noted to be one of Shaw's premier leaders on the Nation's #1 Ranked Defense during the regular season as the 2007 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year. Indeed, Ellis was an instrumental aspect of Shaw University clinching a birth to the 2007 CIAA Championship and then emerging as Champions.
