Rams to Face Mercyhurst in Opening Round of NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional
WSSU making first appearance in NCAA Division II post-season play

MILLERSVILLE, PA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-23) will
continue their historic return when the team takes part the NCAA
Division II Atlantic Regional from May 20-23rd. After winning the
2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA)
championship, the Rams earned the conference’s automatic bid
to the NCAA Atlantic Regional and will take on the Mercyhurst
Lakers (39-10), Friday morning at Clipper Magazine Stadium in
Lancaster, Pa.
After winning 30 games in their first season of play in 37 years,
the Rams will enter the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional as the
fifth seed and will take on the second-seeded Mercyhurst Lakers.
The game will be a battle of conference champions as the Lakers are
the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament
champions and the PSAC Western Division regular season champion.
The appearance will mark the eighth appearance in the NCAA
postseason tournament and their second appearance in the last three
seasons.
Joining the Rams and the Lakers will be the top-seeded host
Millersville (39-10), the third-seed Seton Hill (33-13),
fourth-seed East Stroudsburg (25-18), and sixth-seed Concord
(26-24).
