Chowan's Aaron Carroll Named CIAA Baseball Coach of the
Year

PETERSBURG, VA – Chowan University Head Baseball Coach Aaron
Carroll has been named 2011 CIAA Coach of the Year. Carroll
was awarded the honor at the CIAA ceremony on the campus of
Virginia State University on Wednesday, April 20th.
Carroll led Chowan to a 29-14 overall record this season, the most
wins the program has had since the 2008 season. The Hawks
earned the top seed in the CIAA Tournament, which begins tomorrow,
after compiling a 25-3 conference record.
Chowan is currently on a 15 game winning streak and has not dropped
a game since April 2nd. The Hawks posted an outstanding 14-1
record on the road this season and led the CIAA in batting average,
on-base percentage, walks drawn, and sacrifice bunts.
Carroll helped produce three players who made the All-CIAA First
team: Colby Wiggins, Ryan Moore, and Justin Bagbey. Wiggins
was also named CIAA Rookie of the Year.
