Saturday’s Heavy Rains Wash Out CIAA Baseball Championship

PETERSBURG, VA– Saturday’s heavy rains in the Petersburg, VA area have forced the postponement of Saturday’s play in the CIAA Men’s Baseball Championships. Officials announced Saturday afternoon that play will resume, weather permitting, on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM with Shaw University facing off against Virginia State University in the championship game.
The Bears will face the home-team Trojans of Virginia State on their own campus as the Trojans look to claim the 2006 CIAA Baseball title. However, the task will be daunting as VirginiaStatewill have to defeat the unbeaten Bears in back-to-back games to claim the title in the double-elimination championship.
