All-CIAA and Rookie Baseball Teams and Players of the Year Announced

Petersburg, VA… The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its All-CIAA Baseball Team, All-Rookie Team and Player and Rookie of the Year at the Baseball Social this afternoon.This year’s Player of the Year, Elizabeth City State University Viking Carlos Gutierrez, a junior outfielder from Bronx, NY is tied for first in home runs (5) in the conference and also leads the CIAA in total bases, 69. Gutierrez ranks 4th in the CIAA in runs scored with 36.
Steve Perkinson of Virginia State University ties Gutierrez in home runs with 5 and also ranks 2nd in total bases, (63). This freshman pitcher and first baseman from Dinwiddie, VA, ranks 4th in the conference in strikeouts with 38 in 67.2 innings pitched.
