Rocky Mount, NC – In their final regular season event of the season, the Bowie State University women’s bowling team placed second at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event III and captured the CIAA Northern Division crown.
The Bulldogs tallied 10,825 total pins which included 3,536 pin-count in Baker System Scoring and finished with a record of 7-4 during the weekend. Junior Diamond Carter (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the way with an average of 170.20 for 4th place individually. Senior Chantel Farlow (Columbia, Md.) ranked second in team scoring average (161.50) and sophomore Bre’Ana Jones (Odenton, Md.) was third with an average of 142.60. Farlow and Jones ranked 9th and 18th respectively among all bowlers.
Virginia State University was first overall with 10,983 total pin falls and ended the weekend with an 9-2 record while Virginia Union University finished third overall in the North with a record of 5-6 and a total pin count of 10,988. Chowan University placed fourth overall with 10,380 total pins (4-8 record) and Elizabeth City State University rounded out the northern field in fifth with 9,061 total pins (2-7 record).
The Bulldogs will now set their sights on winning its fourth straight (eighth overall) CIAA Championship on March 23-24 at the AMF Lynnhaven Lanes in Virginia Beach, VA.
