Laurel, MD – The Fayetteville State University women’s bowling team capped day two of the Frederick and Edwina Underwood Bowling Classic with a record of 2-3 in a team format. All matches are held at the AMF Laurel Lanes on Saturday, January 14th.
Fayetteville State recorded victories over CIAA rival Bowie State (798-786) and the Division I Morgan State programs. The Lady Broncos came up short against Howard (964-906), nationally ranked Norfolk State (813-778), and conference foe Virginia State (788-783).
Freshman Brittany Worthy (Durham, NC) had a superb afternoon rolling the highest individual game of 277 and the highest average of 197.6. Junior Devondra Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) followed with the second highest team average of 175.25. Bazemore rolled a 216 in the second matchup of the day.
Freshmen Savannah Starling (Fayetteville, NC) and Paige Brayboy (Maxton, NC) averaged 161.5 and 151, respectively.
Senior Jasmin Aponte (Fayetteville, NC), sophomore Veronica Colon-Santiago (Hope Mills, NC), and junior Lola Neal (Wilson, NC) rounded out the scoring with averages of 150, 145, and 139, respectively.
Fayetteville State will finish out competition on Sunday, January 15th for the third and final day of the Underwood Bowling Classic. All matches will be played at the AMF Laurel Lanes.
