ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Shaw University women’s bowling team finished fourth in the Southern Division at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowling Event II Sunday hosted by Chowan University this weekend.
The Lady Bears completed the event with a total of 10494 pins and concluded the weekend with a 1-8 record. Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) led Shaw with a 152.39 average, ranking her 17th overall in the event.
Shaw dropped a 737-656 decision to Saint Augustine’s before falling to Fayetteville State 876-662 on Friday. The Lady Bears would finish day one with a 745-717 victory over Johnson C. Smith to finish the day with 3497 total pins for a 1-2 record on the day.
Day two, the Lady Bears fell to FSU 823-659 and SAU 783-716 before suffering a 759-665 decision to JCSU on Saturday.
During the Bakers Match, the Lady Bears came up short against the Lady Falcons (737-733), prior to a 739-717 loss to the Lady Broncos and 823-743 setback to the Lady Golden Bulls Sunday.
Bowie State placed first overall after going the entire weekend undefeated (12-0) with a total of 11, 845 pins. Fayetteville State also went undefeated with a 9-0 mark, while finishing second overall and atop in the Southern Division after earning a total of 11, 808 pins.
The Lady Bears will return to action Feb. 12-14, when they compete in the CIAA Round-Up (South) in Fayetteville, NC.
