Saint Augustine's Places Second In Southern Division at CIAA Bowling Event I

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Saint Augustine’s University women’s bowling team placed second in the Southern Division in the CIAA Divisional Event No. 1 at AMF Centennial Lanes over the weekend (Friday, Nov. 13-Sunday, Nov. 15).

 

The Lady Falcons knocked down 9,923 total pins and posted an 8-4 record to finish ahead of Johnson C. Smith University (9,760 total pins/6-6 record), Shaw University (9,040 total pins/4-8 record) and Livingstone College (7,791 total pins/0-12 record). Fayetteville State University was first with 11,169 total pins and a 12-0 mark.

 

The Lady Falcons started successfully on Friday, winning three of four team matches. They defeated Johnson C. Smith (658-582), Shaw (776-604) and Livingstone (706-500). Their only loss was to Fayetteville State (753-659).

 

On Saturday, the Lady Falcons were 2-2 against Southern Division teams. They topped Shaw (650-628) and Livingstone (666-450), and lost to Johnson C. Smith (687-673) and Fayetteville State (718-624).

 

The Lady Falcons concluded the event with a 3-1 record in Baker matches Sunday. They upended Johnson C. Smith (612-610), Shaw (686-619) and Livingstone (609-582). Their only defeat was to Fayetteville State (718-622).

 

All five Lady Falcon bowlers placed among the top 16 individually in the division. Shakayla Glenn (Jr./Winston-Salem, NC) was 10th with a 138.7 average and Hunter Cannon (Sr./Rocky Mount, NC) was 12th with a 135.9 average. Imani Robinson (Jr./Burlington, NJ) placed 13th with a 133.6 average and Tiysha Smith (So./Parkton, NC) finished 15th with a 131.1 average. T’Keya McKay (Jr./Groton, CT) was 16th with a 129.8 average.

 

The Lady Falcons will compete again next weekend (Nov. 20-22) in the Virginia Union University Invitational in Midlothian, Va.
