FSU Bowling Finishes Southern Divisional with a Perfect Record

Lady Broncos go undefeated in Southern Division for 2nd consecutive year

Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University women's bowling completed the 2015 CIAA Southern Divisional Event with a 3-0 baker's record on Sunday, March 15th at the B&B Bowling Lanes. FSU improves to 35-5 overall and 30-0 in the division. The Lady Broncos have won 13 divisional titles from 14 years of competition.

Fayetteville State completed the team matches with a 6-0 record after the first two days of competition. FSU followed with victories over Johnson C. Smith (743-662), Saint Augustine's (900-701), and Shaw (846-657) in baker's matches on the third and final day. 

Senior Crystal Mujica (Fayetteville, NC) led the Lady Broncos with a team-high average of 178.70. Sophomore Jasmin Aponte (Fayetteville, NC) rolled a 168.80 average in 10 games, including a 194-game on Saturday. Junior Renee Guischard (Fayetteville, NC) bowled a 160 average for Fayetteville State.

Freshman Lola Neal (Wilson, NC) averaged 147 during the team matches to earn CIAA Southern Division Newcomer High Average honors. Fellow freshman Devondra Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) averaged 145 during the first two days. 

Nicole Sciortino of Saint Augustine's received the High Game Award (232) and High Average Award (196.0) for the Southern Division. Bowie State swept the Northern Division honors with Shayla Lightfoot claiming High Average (176.0), Sierra Davis earning Newcomer High Average (169.0), and Ambrianna Bankston taking High Game (242).

The Lady Broncos finished the first three days of competition with a total 12,220 pin-count. Saint Augustine's (4-5) racked up 10,825 total pins, while Shaw (5-4) followed with 10,419. 

Johnson C. Smith finished fourth with a 0-9 record and a total 9,359 pin-count. Livingstone College failed to meet the legal number of team participants required. All team scores are deemed a no contest.

FSU has claimed its 11th straight regular season division title. The Lady Broncos have also gone undefeated against the Southern Division for the fifth time in 14 seasons.

Fayetteville State will now attempt to win their fourth CIAA Championship in program history. The CIAA Bowling Championships will be held the weekend of March 20 - 22 in Chesapeake, VA at the AMF Western Branch Lanes. The final day of the championships will be streamed live on the CIAA website.
