MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (March 21, 2026) – Championship Saturday delivered high stakes and defining moments as the field narrowed on day two of the 2026 CIAA Women’s Bowling Championship at Bowlero Bowling.
The day opened with elimination matches, where Bowie State and Virginia State kept their seasons alive in tightly contested battles. Bowie State outlasted Livingstone 2-1, while Virginia State edged Shaw 2-1 to advance, setting up a pivotal evening matchup between the two programs.
In the winners' bracket, top seeded Fayetteville State continued its dominant run, sweeping Elizabeth City State 2-0 to remain undefeated and punch its ticket to the championship. The Broncos now advance to their 10th consecutive CIAA Women’s Bowling Championship match and sit one win away from capturing a fourth straight title. Fayetteville State has yet to drop a match through two days of competition.
Elizabeth City State, which entered the day as the lowest remaining seed after two strong wins on Friday, dropped into the elimination bracket but remains in contention heading into championship Sunday.
The final match of the evening featured Bowie State and Virginia State in a win or go home showdown. Bowie State delivered under pressure, earning a 2-1 victory to eliminate the No. 2 seed and advance to the semifinal round. With the result, Virginia State’s championship run comes to an end, while Bowie State continues its push through the elimination bracket.
Championship Sunday is now set. Bowie State will face Elizabeth City State in the semifinal, with the winner advancing to take on undefeated Fayetteville State in the championship match.
Competition resumes at 9 a.m. with the semifinal, followed by the championship at 2 p.m. as the CIAA crowns its 2026 Women’s Bowling Champion.
