No. 8 Bowie State Falls to No. 1 East Stroudsburg (PA) 11-1

STROUDSBURG, PA (May 9, 2024) --The Bowie State Bulldogs had a tough showing on Thursday in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship Regionals, falling to the No. 16 East Stroudsburg (PA) Warriors by a final score of 11-1.

Lindsey George (9-9) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (20-22).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. BSU got an RBI single from Saniya Jones, scoring  Taylor Dawkins from third base. East Stroudsburg (PA) then scored 10 times over the remaining three innings to break the tie and grab the 11-1 win.

GAME NOTES
» BSU's highest-scoring inning was the second, when it pushed one run across.
» BSU pitchers faced 30 East Stroudsburg (PA) hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and five fly balls while striking out three.
» Jones led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Bowie State will face the loser between Kuztown and Shippensburg on Friday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. in a double-elimination contest.
