FOOD LION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#3 Malia Simmons, Winston-Salem State 
(Jr., UTL- Henderson, NC)

Malia helped the Rams sweep Fayetteville and Shaw. Last week Simmons went 10-of-17 at the plate. Simmons recorded a total of eight hits during the doubleheader against Fayetteville State on April 5th. She hit a grand slam home run against Fayetteville to give the Rams a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Malia drove-in 11 RBIs and also scored seven runs. In the 17 at-bats, Simmons struck out only two times. 

FOOD LION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#13 Aliyah Smith, Bowie State 
(Sr., 1B/INF- Stafford, VA)

Smith tallied 24 putouts this past weekend at the first base position. She recorded a high 8 putouts against VSU during game two for a total of 13 putouts while against VUU she combined for 12 putouts.

FOOD LION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

#10 Jyla Thomas, Winston-Salem State
(Fr., P- Moreno Valley, CA)

Thomas helped the Rams go 4-2 last week including two sweeps over Fayetteville and Shaw. Last week she pitched a total of 13 innings. Jyla struck out a total of 17 batters. On April 6th Thomas tied her season-high striking out 10 batters against Shaw and helped the Rams defeat the Bears 15-0 for her first shutout this season. In 13 innings pitched Thomas only gave up two earned runs. At bat she had two runs for the week and she recorded one assist.
