ETTRICK, VA (April 26, 2024) - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announces its 2024 Women's Tennis All-Conference Team and superlatives as voted by the CIAA Women's Tennis Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association. For the second year in a row, this year's team is led by Player of the Year, Anja Antonijevic, from Shaw University. Serena Teluwo, also from Shaw University takes home Rookie of the Year honors.
Antonijevic, a native of Nis, Serbia and defending CIAA POTY finished the regular season undefeated in conference action as the third slot for the Lady Bears. She was also dominant at the second doubles slot which included a 6-0 shutout victory over Bluefield State in doubles action.
Freshman, Serena Teluwo, a native of Lagos, Nigera, has been a solid option at the third through fifth spot for the Lady Bears. She earned impressive CIAA wins over Bowie State University, Livingstone College, Winston-Salem State University, as well as an out-of-conference win against Benedict. The newcomer has not dropped a set in CIAA action.
In Coach Harold Moore's second year with the Rams, he has led them to a 5-5 conference record. In the CIAA roundup, the Rams finished 3-2 defeating Elizabeth City State University, Virginia Union University, and Bowie State University. Beyond the tennis court, Coach Moore has had a huge presence throughout the community hosting not one, but two USTA Tennis Daze, both with notable turnouts. In addition, he has also reignited his program's outreach with the local youth community volunteering with over 300 kids this year in the #RamsintheCommunity initiative.
