Fayetteville State Finishes Seventh at NCAA Regional Golf Preview

Lebanon, PA – Fayetteville State University finished seventh in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Preview Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa. The Broncos tied with Millersville and California (PA) with a 36-hole 610 (+34) scorecard. Caden Hodges and Brandon Jones shot three-over par (147) to rank fifth on the individual leaderboard.
 
While continuing to be ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region, Fayetteville State secured its participation in the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament after winning the CIAA Golf Championship on April 18. The Preview Tournament was an opportunity for possible regional teams to have rounds on the championship course against regional teams.
 
The Broncos finished the first round of 18 holes ranked fifth with a 16-over par 304. Hodges led the team with a one-over par 73 while Jones followed with two strokes over par. FSU added two more strokes to its performance with +18 (306) for the final score. Fayetteville State, as a team, collected 96 pars and 20 birdies.
 
Caden Hodges remained fifth overall throughout both rounds. He finished his first round one-over par (73) and after 14 holes of his second round, he was shooting two-under. His final four holes ended with a bogey for a 74 (+2).
 
Brandon Jones moved from being ranked 13 after the first round to fifth. His 74 (+2) after 18 holes came from four birdies. He was mostly even with the course on the second day and finished one stroke over par.
 
Jack McCarthy shot 155 (+11) with rounds of 78 (+6) and 77 (+5). Juan Lopez went 162 (79, 83) while Shuan Wixson followed at 163 (81, 82).
 
The Regional Championship will be held from May 11 – 13 at the Iron Valley Golf Club.
