Charlotte, NC (November 7, 2023) – The CIAA Fan Fest is set to reach new heights this year as it proudly announces the addition of The Art of Noise, an immersive musical experience, to its exciting lineup. As the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament takes center stage in Baltimore, MD from February 26 - March 3, 2024, fans can look forward to electrifying performances by The Art of Noise at the CIAA Fan Fest at the Baltimore Convention Center.
This immersive musical experience is the brainchild of Richmond, VA hip-hop legend DJ Lonnie B, a maestro behind the turntables, whose passion for music has been shaping the city's soundscape for over a decade. Growing up amidst the rhythm of Richmond in the 1980s, Lonnie Battle discovered his calling early on: he wanted to be a DJ. A twist of fate led him to his first big break, DJing Saturday dances at a local rec center, a bargain that sparked his journey into the world of music. Lonnie's talent soon took him beyond the confines of local parties and clubs; he became a central figure in Richmond's hip-hop scene, performing alongside industry greats and elevating the city's musical identity.
In 2013, faced with a life-altering challenge - cancer - Lonnie found renewed purpose. He envisioned a musical experience that went beyond genres and eras, blending hip-hop techniques with diverse influences, and thus, The Art of Noise was born. Rooted in the art of DJing, Lonnie's curated musical voyage paints a vivid picture that resonates with the audience, transcending the boundaries of nostalgia to create a shared experience.
The addition of The Art of Noise to the CIAA Fan Fest promises an unforgettable experience for attendees. Set to elevate the event with their unique musical experience, this year's CIAA Basketball Tournament promises to be an unforgettable celebration of both sports and the unifying power of music.
"For over a decade, I have had the privilege of being amongst the culture of CIAA by DJing many promoter-led CIAA parties,” said Lonnie B, Founder of Art of Noise. “When approached to collaborate directly with the CIAA, I recognized the immense significance of the moment. This partnership signifies a deepened connection with an event that embodies more than parties but unity, excellence, and community. I am profoundly honored to embrace this opportunity and contribute to the legacy of the CIAA Tournament."
The CIAA Fan Fest, a staple of the CIAA Basketball Championship Tournament, offers a diverse range of entertainment, activities, and experiences for fans of all ages. From live music performances to food vendors, interactive exhibits, and autograph sessions with athletes, it is the ultimate destination for both basketball enthusiasts and those seeking an exciting festival atmosphere.
"We are thrilled to welcome The Art of Noise to the CIAA Fan Fest," said Jacqie McWilliams Parker, CIAA Commissioner. "Their unique musical style and iconic status align perfectly with the vibrant and diverse spirit of our tournament and Fan Fest. We are confident that their performance will highlight why the CIAA experience is so unique and special."
The CIAA Fan Fest is a celebration of sports, culture, and community, and the addition of The Art of Noise further emphasizes the CIAA's commitment to providing a dynamic, diverse, and memorable experience for all attendees.
