Quinton Bobo


FOOD LION OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK

#53 Quinton Bobo, Bowie State
(Gr, OL - White Plains, MD)

Quinton Bobo and a very veteran offensive line helped the No. 8 Bulldogs to 361 total yards of offense, highlighted by 268 yards through the air against No. 16 New Haven Saturday. Against the ranked Chargers, Bowie State only surrendered a single sack. The Bulldogs also rushed for 93 yards in the 27-20 win.

FOOD LION QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK

#1 Dion Golatt Jr., Bowie State
(Gr, QB - Largo, MD)

Golatt Jr. completed 16 of 29 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns to get the victory over New Haven. The Largo, MD native threw the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds remaining in the game. He then rushed for the two-point conversion. In the fourth quarter, his earlier touchdown, a 68-yard strike, gave BSU a 19-17 lead. He finished with a passer efficiency rating of 149.8.


Ah'shaan Belcher

FOOD LION RECEIVER OF THE WEEK

#13 Ah'shaan Belcher, Shaw
(Rs-So, WR - Jamesville, NC)

Belcher outpaced the conference with 143 receiving yards and did so on only six receptions. The Jamesville, NC native scored the Bears' only touchdown on a 58-yard strike in the second quarter. Four of the redshirt freshman's six catches went for at least 20 yards. He also drew a pass interference for a fifth first down.


Byers

FOOD LION OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK

#3 Jada Byers, Virginia Union
(So, RB - Hammonton, NJ)

Byers led the entire conference with 172 all-purpose yards, tallying 98 rushing yards, 45 receiving, and 29 through punt returns. On the ground, he had 15 carries for an average of 6.5 yards per carry, plus a touchdown. The sophomore back also had four catches, one of which went for a 27-yard touchdown. His two first-half scores and the eight first downs he generated led to a 35-0 halftime lead over Virginia University of Lynchburg.


 Justin Fleming



FOOD LION DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK

#17 Justin Fleming, Winston-Salem State
(So, DB - Greensboro, NC)

In the Black College Football Hall of Fame Game, Fleming caught two interceptions in a 41-21 loss against Central State. He returned one interception for a 25-yard touchdown and Winston-Salem State's first points of the game. His other interception came in the redzone, stalling a Marauders' drive. The sophomore defensive back also recorded five solo tackles, including one for a loss. His tackle for a loss came on a 3rd-and-1 that forced a Central State punt.

FOOD LION LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK

#41 Jaden Echols, Livingstone
(Jr, LB - Griffin, GA)

Echols had 10 total tackles in the 44-19 loss against visiting Catawba. Echols had five solo stops and one tackle for a loss.  His 10 total tackles were tied for second in the conference. 


 Cowan, Devin



FOOD LION DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK

#42 Devin Cowan, Fayetteville State
(Jr, DL - Fayetteville, NC) 

Cowan was tied for the team-high with six total tackles in FSU's 15-13 win over UNC Pembroke.  The Fayetteville, NC native assisted on four tackles for a loss and two sacks and he was also credited for a quarterback hurry. His two assisted sacks came in the fourth quarter, helping the Broncos to seal the come-from-behind victory.

FOOD LION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#11 Larry Hackey, Virginia Union
(So, KR/PR/WR - Gaithersburg, MD) 

To open the second half of the Panthers' 77-0 win against Virginia University of Lynchburg, Hackey returned the kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. His return was the only kick or punt return touchdown in the conference this week. The Gaithersburg, MD native also had a reception for 10 yards.


Brevin_Caldwell

FOOD LION ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

#11 Brevin Caldwell, Johnson C. Smith 
(Fr, WR - Charlotte, NC)

In his first collegiate game, Caldwell had 11 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns in JCSU's overtime defeat versus Bluefield State, 35-34. The Charlotte, NC native generated nine first downs for the Golden Bulls, eight on receptions and one after drawing a defensive pass interference. He caught a 27-yard strike for a touchdown in the second quarter and then returned in the third quarter with an eight-yard score that gave JCSU a 27-17 lead.
