Former Lincoln Alum to be Hall of Fame Master of Ceremony

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Lincoln University's own Robert Knox will be the Master of Ceremony for the 2012 Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame.
 
Knox, a 1996 Lincoln University graduate, currently works for ESPN in Bristol, Conn., as a Statistics Manager in the Statistics & Analysis department. He has been employed at ESPN since October, 2011.

Prior to working at ESPN, Knox distinguished himself as a Sports Information professional. He worked five years at his alma mater, Lincoln University, and two years at Kutztown University. Before entering into the Sports Information field, Knox was a full-time sports reporter for the Delaware County Daily Times for five years.
 
Knox was named the 2011 College Sports Information Directors' Association (CoSIDA) Rising Star Award winner. He was also a member of the CoSIDA Board of Directors as a College Division representative and the president of the Black College Sports Information Directors' Association (BC-SIDA). Knox served as a member of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee and was the official NCAA representative at the Atlantic Regional championship match. Knox was honored by his hometown city of Chester, Pa., with a citation for being a positive role model.
 
Knox served as Lincoln's Sports information Director from 2004-09. He helped Lincoln with its transition from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II by assisting campus administrators with preparing information packets.
 
His hard work and love for the profession resulted in the success of promoting student-athletes there.
 
Knox was instrumental in having one of his student-athletes, Ashley Parker, named a finalist for the prestigious 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. He had another named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team.
 
While at Kutztown, Knox successful promotion of men's basketball athlete Stephen Dennis, helped him become the NCAA Division II Player of the Year. Also, while working at Kutztown, Knox was responsible for promoting several nationally-ranked teams, including the Golden Bear football team's first NCAA playoff appearance in 2010.
 
Knox's individual awards included receiving two CoSIDA Fred Stabley, Jr., Writing Contest awards and being the recipient of the “Raising the Bar” award from Lincoln's Vice President for Student Affairs (2008).
 
Prior to his tenure at Lincoln, Knox spent five years as a sports writer for the Delaware County Daily Times. In addition to covering several outstanding athletes, including Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Dawn Staley and Lisa Leslie, he covered the WNBA All-Star game and the 2004 NBA Draft.
 
Knox earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in journalism. During his time as a Lincoln student, Knox was the public address announcer of the Lincoln men's and women's basketball teams where he earned the name, “the voice of Lincoln.” He also had a weekly sports show on Lincoln's student radio station, WLIU.
 
The 2012 Lincoln University Inaugural Hall of Fame Class includes inductees, Manuel Rivero, Dr. Frank “Tick” Coleman, Munford Merrill “Monte” Irvin, Ashley Parker, Clive Terronlonge, Dr. Tarron Richardson, Barrington “Barry” Fearon, Rhondale Jones, Tehma Hallie Stanton Smith, Robert Eugene Smith and Dr. Leonard L. Bethel.
 
The 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame class will be celebrated over the course of the weekend to include an Induction Banquet on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., in the Student Union Multi-purpose Room. 
 
The inductees will be at introduced halftime of the football game on Saturday. Kick-off is 1:00 p.m.  Tickets for the banquet are $30 for adults and $15 for children (12-and-under).
