CIAA Honors Spring Coaches of the Year: 2007

Hampton, VA...The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Executive Committee, in conjunction with the respective Spring Sports Coaches Associations, selected this year's Spring Sports Coaches of the Year.
 
Fred Burroughs of Bowie State University was voted Softball Coach of the Year.  Burroughs captured the 2007 CIAA Softball Championship, the first of its kind for Bowie State, and finished the regular season with an undefeated divisional record. (10-0, 18-2)
 
In North Carolina Central University's first year back in conference baseball competition since 1975, Henry White led the Eagles to a 15-5 conference and 21-24 overall record. This year's Baseball Coach of the Year also coached the conference's Rookie of the Year this season.
 
Sunday Enitan of Shaw University celebrates his fourth consecutive Men's Tennis Coach of the Year recognition.  Coach Enitan led the Bears to the Men's conference title this season, and appeared in the NCAA Div. II Men's Tennis Post-Season.  The Shaw Bears finished 5-0, 10-1, 12-6 this season.
 
Coach Elorine Hill of Fayetteville State University returns for her second consecutive year as CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.  Her Lady Broncos captured the CIAA Women's Tennis Championship title this season. They celebrated another season with a perfect conference record, 7-0, 15-0, 18-4 in the regular season.
 
Raymond McDougal of Fayetteville State University has been selected as the Golf Coach of the Year. The Broncos finished 1st in the conference golf championship; their 7th consecutive CIAA
title.
 
The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, George Williams of St. Augustine's College, led the men's team (209 pts) to a 116-point lead  victory.  The Lady Falcons won the Women's Championship title (149), 57 points over their second place competitor.
 
The 2007 CIAA Coaches of the Year will be honored at the Annual CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon on May 22, 2007 at the Durham Marriott at the City Center, Durham, NC.
