The event will cap-off over 1 year of fundraising led by Bailey
and the Saint Paul’s College Football Support Team. The
money that has been raised will be used primarily to secure the
building costs of the complex, which is currently estimated to be
$3.8 million dollars. Blueprints of the Enrichment and
Athletic Complex indicate that the facility will be 26,530 square
feet, featuring classrooms, locker rooms, weight rooms and office
space. Groundbreaking for the facility is tentatively
scheduled to take place during the first week of June 2006.
Although the facility will play host to the “Fighting
Tigers” football team, the complex will also serve as the
headquarters for the “Saint Paul’s College Win-Win Team
for Youth Enrichment”. The enrichment program, that is
designed to begin in Lawrenceville and resonate throughout the
region and the state of Virginia, is expected to be launched in
Fall 2006. Its primary function is to enrich the youth and
educate them about the 4 major maladies that affect them: suicide,
homicide, accidents and AIDS.
The event opens with a reception and art show that will last until
7:00 pm. Gamble Productions and Associates Co. of Richmond,
VA will provide the art, which will be available for
purchase. A portion of the proceeds raised by the art show
will be donated to the SPC Athletic Foundation.
