    The hearts of Bronco fans and the volleyball squad dropped after FSU put a serve attempt into the net and attacked into a blocking situation that landed on the Broncos side of the court in favor of the VSU Trojans. The 15-13 score and the 3-2 loss will remain the minds of nine (9) returning student-athletes.

    The Fayetteville State University volleyball team will head into the 2017 CIAA Championship Tournament today with four All-CIAA honorees. The tournament will be hosted on the campus of Virginia State University with the opening round beginning at 12 noon. The Championship match will be on Sunday, November 19th at 3:30 pm.
  • M. Basketball. FSU Broncos Prepare for Home Opener Against Wingate

    Fayetteville State University men’s basketball team will host its Capel Arena home opener on Saturday, November 18th against Wingate University.The records may not dictate it but the non-conference matchup figures to be a close game as Fayetteville State (0-2 overall) and Wingate (2-1 overall) will both enter Saturday’s game averaging 75 points per game (Broncos: 75.5; Bulldogs: 75.7).

    The Fayetteville State University women's basketball team defeated the Catawba Indians, 69-46, for the Broncos home opener. FSU is now 1-1 overall while the Indians dropped to 1-2.
  • Bowling. FSU Broncos Bowling has a Perfect 12-0 Season Opener

    The Fayetteville State women’s bowling team kicked the 2017-18 season off with a bang. The Broncos finished the CIAA Event I with a perfect 12-0 record against Southern Division teams. Devondra Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) won the Southern Division Highest Average award with a 198.8 score. Veronica Santiago (Hope Mills, NC) bowled the division’s highest game with a 248 against Livingstone on the second day of action.

    "The Fayetteville State University family is saddened by the passing of one of its most respected alumni and former coaches," said Chancellor James Anderson. "Coach Capel and his family are held in high regard by FSU, its alumni, and supporters and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents, wife, children, and family members during this difficult time."
  • Football. Fayetteville State Falls 42-19 to Virginia State in the CIAA Football Championship Game

    Fayetteville State University ended its 2017 football season with a 42-19 loss to Virginia State University in the CIAA Championship game. Stevie Green (Washington, NC) was named the Runner-Up Most Valuable Player with 22 rushes for 144 yards and one touchdown.
  • Football. Jetton and De La Rosa Named CIAA Rookies of the Year

    The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), in conjunction with its Football Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors Association, announced Elvin De La Rosa (Winston-Salem, NC) and Donshel Jetton (Mooresville, NC) as the Defensive and Offensive Rookies of the Year. In total, seven Fayetteville State freshmen were named to the 2017 CIAA All-Rookie Football Teams.

  • Football. Fayetteville State to Face Virginia State in the CIAA Title Game

    Fayetteville State University is celebrating 150 years of existence. Throughout the year, the university has been remembering milestones and making milestones. Head Coach Richard Hayes has reached a milestone in his second year of being a head coach and leading the Broncos. Prior to Coach Hayes, the late Kenny Phillips reached the championship game in his third season. FSU will face Virginia State for the first time this season. The last time the two met was in 2015, when the Broncos defeated the Trojans 33-20.
  • W. Volleyball. Bojo Jada Kills 8 Spikes as FSU Broncos Sweep Benedict 3-0

    Fayetteville, NC -- Bojo Jada (Jamestown, NC) served up eight (8) kills to lead Fayetteville State to a clean sweep of Benedict College. The Broncos swept the Tigers in its season opener and tonight by scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-17. FSU improves to 20-9 overall while the Tigers dropped to 14-13.
  • W. Volleyball. Jacobs Puts Down 14 Kills in Broncos 3-0 loss to Shaw

    Fayetteville State University faced off against volleyball rival Shaw University in a hard-fought battle but yielded sets of 21-25, 23-25, and 26-24. Jayde Jacobs (Fayetteville, NC) had a match-high 14 kills as the Broncos dropped to 19-9 overall, 12-3 in conference play and 6-3 in the CIAA Southern Division.
  • Football. Fayetteville State Secures Trip to the CIAA Championships with a 23-22 win over WSSU

    In another nail-biter, Darnell Walker (Charlotte, NC) crossed the goal line from one-yard out with 30 seconds remaining to tie the game at 22. David Lamb, who stayed calm and collected during the Rams timeout, kicked his third game-winner to send FSU to the championship game.

    The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in conjunction with its Bowling Coaches Association has announced Fayetteville State University as the predicted winner of the upcoming 2017-18 season and named five Broncos to the Preseason All-CIAA Team.
  • Football. FSU Broncos Hayes and James Earn CIAA Weekly Awards
    November 01, 2017
    The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Fayetteville State’s Head Football Coach Richard Hayes the Coach of the Week for the second time this season. The CIAA Football Coaches and Sports Information Directors’ Association also named Keyshawn James the Linebacker of the week.
