Rams, Hawks to Battle for 2012 CIAA Baseball Championship
PETERSBURG, VA- Chowan University and Winston-Salem State University will square off at 11:00am tomorrow at Whaley Colbert Field to decide the 2012 CIAA Baseball Championship.
The Rams will enter tomorrow’s game as the top seed and home team, having not lost since the tournament began.
WSSU, the defending CIAA Champions, earned their championship berth with 5-0 shutout of Chowan University Friday morning. Ram pitcher Sheldon Johnson had a masterful outing, allowing only 4 hits while holding the Hawks scoreless. At the plate WSSU had a field day offensively led by second baseman German Reyes, who went 4 for 4 at the plate. The Rams totaled 13 total hits as a team.

The Hawks opened the game up early, ( including a three run homer by Justin Bagbey in the top of the 1st) scoring 9 runs over the first two innings to put the game out of reach.
