Saint Augustine’s Clinches Slot in CIAA Semi-finals With 3-0 Win Over WSSU

(HAMPTON, VA) – Saint Augustine’s clinched a spot in tomorrow’s CIAA Volleyball Tournament semi-finals with a convincing 3-0 win over Winston-Salem State in a game played this afternoon at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.
The Lady Falcons, now 2-0 in the quarterfinal round, defeated Winston-Salem State 25-23, 25-15, and 25-19. The Lady Rams drop to 0-2 in pool play. Both teams have one more game in the quarterfinal round robin. Saint Augustine’s win also clinches a semi-final slot for Chowan.
Kathryn Tokarski led the Lady Falcons with 18 kills and an impressive .516 attack percentage. Roxanne Smith led Saint Augustine’s with 30 assists and Nicolette Campbell had nine digs.
Ashley Harris led the Lady Rams with 11 kills, while Kiara Brown had 22 assists. Lakeisha Hawes had seven digs to lead WSSU.
Winston-Salem State closes out quarterfinal play against Virginia Union. Saint Augustine’s will face Chowan to determine the top seed in Group B at 7:00 p.m. All tournament games are free and open to the public.
