Clayton and Kipper to Highlight CIAA Fall Championship Luncheons

Hampton, VA...The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Championship Weekend begins in one week.  This year's Volleyball Championship Luncheon will be held at the Newport News Marriott at the City Center on Thursday, November 5th; 12:30pm.  Bobby Kipper, Director of the National Center for the Prevention of Community Violence (NCPCV) will address this year's attendees.  

In December 2009, the CIAA and the NCPCV will enter into a partnership that will focus on public awareness and the prevention of gang violence.  Special programs will be instituted on the campuses and in the communities of CIAA conference schools. More information will be released in December.

Bobby Kipper is a Virginia native with a background in sports and public safety.  Following a twenty-five year law enforcement career, he served as director of Virginia's gang reduction program.  Currently he is the director of the National Center for the Prevention of Community Violence.  In addition, he is an active high school coach and a thirty-year veteran basketball official with the Virginia High School League.

The Football Championship Luncheon will feature Kevin Clayton of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as its keynote speaker.  The luncheon will be held on Friday, November 6th at the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center; 11:00am.

2009. Clayton is responsible for implementing a comprehensive diversity strategy throughout the USTA; encompassing professional and community tennis, the sections and Community Tennis Associations, as well as all other internal and external business relationships. In this role, he has developed and implemented a diversity scorecard that ties results to senior executives' performance, and has developed and launched the Diversity Leadership Team Concept. Clayton works out of the USTA's national headquarters in White Plains, NY.

Day one of volleyball championship pool play will begin on Friday, November 7, 2009 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex, Hampton, VA.

Friday match times: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 7:00pm.
Saturday- Semi-Finals match times: 5:00pm, 7:00pm
Sunday- Championship: 1:00pm
