Basketball Coaches of the Year Announced
CHARLOTTE, NC - Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Doug Robertson has been selected the CIAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year by his conference colleagues. Robertson, in his third season, has directed Bowie State to its best season since the 1999-2000 campaign. In that 22-5 season, Robertson was an assistant coach for the BSU Lady Bulldogs.
Shawn Walker of Elizabeth City State University was named the 2008 Men's Basketball Coach of the Year by the CIAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association and the CIAA Executive Committee. Walker's team entered the 2008 Tournament as the #3 seed with a 13-5 CIAA and 20-6 overall record.
Walker and Robertson where recognized at the CIAA Men's and Women's Tip-Off Banquets in Charlotte.
