CIAA Championships

DAY ONE DOUBLES DOMINATED BY SHAW MEN'S TENNIS TEAM

April 16, 2008 - Petersburg, VA - Faithful fans flocked to the fences of the tennis courts for day one of the 2008 CIAA Men's Championships. Shaw University secured first place finishes in each of the three doubles event to total 21 points and swept the doubles championships. Shaw was the #1 seed entering each doubles competition.
 
The Bears held a four-point lead over second place Johnson C. Smith University. The Golden Bulls 17 points were just one point more than third place host Virginia State University with 16 points. Also parted by a one point differential was fourth place Virginia Union University with 11 points and fifth place Saint Augustine's with 10 points.  Rounding out the competition in sixth place was Saint Paul's College; whom was held to be scoreless.
