Virginia State grabs first round lead in Golf Championship competition

Fort Lee, VA - The Trojans of Virginia State are the first round leaders in the 2008 CIAA Golf Championship, played at The Cardinal Golf Club at Fort Lee, VA. VSU currently holds the lead with a team score of 295, while Fayeteville State trails closely behind with a combined team score of 296.
In the individual match-ups, Virginia State's Kalani Britos and FSU's Joel Lynn and Jeremy Ringled are all currently tied for first with a score of 72 (even par). Jerel Whiting (VSU) also competed well with a score of 73 (1 over par). Greg Hunt (Virginia State) completes the list of top five individuals competing with an overall first-round score of 74 (2 over par).
The teams will continue with Round Two of the competition for the CIAA Title tomorrow, Friday, April 18 at the Cardinal Golf Club. Tee-off will begin at 8:00 a.m.
