CIAA Golf Championships:
Defending Champion Fayetteville State leads after first day

April 19, 2007 

FORT LEE, Va. - Defending CIAA champion Fayetteville State tops the leaderboard after the first day of the 2007 CIAA Golf Championships held at Cardinal Golf Course on Thursday, April 19, 2007.

The Broncos shot a 299 score to finish 12 strokes ahead of second-place Virginia State, which shot 311. North Carolina Central is third at 341 and Saint Augustine's College is fourth at 353 in the eight-team field.

Kalani Britos of Virginia State is the individual leader with a 72 score, and Ian Milne of Fayetteville State and Jerel Whiting of Virginia State are tied for second at 73. All six Fayetteville State golfers shot under 80 on the first day.


The two-day tournament concludes Friday, April 20, 2007 at 8 a.m.
