CIAA® EDUCATION DAY RETURNS FOR CHARLOTTE AREA MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, FEBRUARY 26 AT THE CHARLOTTE CONVENTION CENTER
Hampton, Va. - The Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association® is proud to host its annual Education Day
as part of the 2014 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament in
Charlotte, N.C. The goal of Education Day is to reach more than
5,000 Charlotte-area middle and high school students with
information to promote interest in pursuing a higher education.
CIAA colleges and universities can meet with students face-to-face,
and provide them with information on college preparation and the
collegiate experience at their institution.
"The tradition of this event is a great reflection on the educational mission of the CIAA as well as the meaningful engagement the conference enjoys with young people from across the country and the local Charlotte area," said Jacqie Carpenter, CIAA Commissioner, in announcing the program.
CIAA Education Day will take place Wednesday, February 26. The High School Program begins at 9:30 a.m. and the Middle School program at 10:30 a.m. Registration for both programs open an hour before start time. Both programs will conclude shortly after 1 p.m. College recruiters from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia schools will be in the Ballroom level of the Charlotte Convention Center. The event kicks-off with an opening session that includes a sponsor welcome and remarks, student and teacher recognitions and an inspirational speaker. For the High School Program, there also is a special presentation honoring 4.0 scholars. Attendees then visit the various institutions' booths and event vendors.
"We believe Education Day is an invaluable event for students, parents and counselors to learn how to pursue a college education at one of the many excellent CIAA institutions," said Raukell Robinson, M. Ed., Education Day coordinator.
